I'm always excited when I get the chance to photograph an artist in their studio. From the scraps of inspiration hung from the walls to the layers of paint coving the floors it's truly an experience. So when I got the call from Jennifer to come to her studio to do some copy work I jumped at the chance. Her work uses the repetition of shapes layered upon each other to tell a story. Several of the pieces here intertwine themes of ancient mythology and nature. I especially love the diptych of the bees that mimics an altar piece. You can see more of Jennifer's work on her website www.statikline.com and stay posted on her upcoming shows.

Fitness Model Portfolio | Commercial Work
Here are a few shots from a shoot I did for a local fitness model for Evolution Talent Agency. She wanted something shot like a Nike ad. I think we got pretty close!

Chuck Inglefield | Corporate Headshots
I met with Chuck earlier this year to do some headshots for his upcoming book "Holy Cow, You're Retiring!", a must-read book for anyone nearing retirement. Chuck sent me a copy today and I was so excited to finally see the finished product. Be sure to check out his website and get yourself a copy.

Hello Fall! | Lifestyle Portraits
Fall is in the air! Here are a few shots from a recent lifestyle shoot with a few of my favorite clients. We were having way to much fun with the leaves!

Giovanna | Actors & Models
Earlier this month I had the pleasure shooting Giovanna, a lifestyle model from Evolution Talent Agency. We brought her daughter along to appear in a few shots - what a cutie pie. Below are a some images that will be use in her new comp card. Can't wait to hear how the auditions go - Good Luck Gio!
House Beautiful | Architectural Interiors
Last week I had the opportunity to photograph the most amazing home. The owners were such a sweet couple and after a long day of shooting we ended up sharing drinks and dinner over a gorgeous marble countertop. The house is situated on a large wooded lot with a deck overlooking a winding stream, foot bridge and several mature Japanese Maples. We came at the perfect time just as the trees were peaking with fall color and before the rain had knocked them all down.
Thanks Jean & David for a wonderful evening - enjoy!

Adrian | Actors & Models
It's a shame that I'm just getting around to posting this now. Adrian contacted me this summer to take some headshots for him to submit to a few local agencies. He has a great look for both fashion and physique modeling and was such a nice guy to work with. I'm seeing a GQ cover in his future!

Local Designer | Andie McGuire
Another great shoot for local designer and friend Andie McGuire. We spied this amazing cotton field after leaving the last shoot, but it had already started raining so we called it a day and vowed to go back. If you can believe it, Andrea whipped up this little number that morning and put the finishing touches on it on the ride up there - talk about raw talent!

Advertising Campaign | Verizon Wireless
So excited to be finally posting these! The shoot went very smoothly despite landing the job only two days before my wedding and having to start production immediately - talk about craziness! A big thanks to all the folks at BlackBox Studios that helped make it happen and to all of our amazing local talent. You guys ROCK!
What I really loved about this shoot was that the focus of the campaign was to illustrate how Verizon helps bring medical services to the underserved market via new technology. It was amazing be a part of something that could really make a difference in the way healthcare is administered to local communities not just at hospitals, but in patients' homes. Having two grandmothers in their 80's made me realize how much a program like this could impact the way they receive health care. Just one more reason to love new technology!

Andie's Bridal | 2012 Collection
Once again I had the pleasure of shooting for my good friend and most talented designer Andrea McGuire for her newest wedding dress collection. These dresses are so beautifully handcrafted it's hard to do them justice in a photograph, but hopefully you get the sense of attention to detail that each dress has been so painstakingly crafted. The lace detailing is just exquisite and her beaded belts and headbands add just enough glamour to fit any style bride. Check out her website for more or shop on Etsy.

Miss Fitt | Handmade Felt Designs by Wendy Allen
A few weeks back I had the pleasure of working with Wendy Allen of Miss Fitt designs. Wendy is an über talented artisan creating wearable works of art out of felt. After our photo shoot she took us back to her felting studio to see where the magic happens. Here are a few of my favorite designs and Wendy explaining to us the art of felting. I was amazed to learn just how much work goes into the making of a finished product. Thankfully, Wendy has an internship program that helps her manage the heavy workload and we got to watch them preparing the raw wool to be made into felt. Thanks for the tour Wendy!

Fourth of July | Fireworks!
Ahhh, there's nothing like the smell of firecrackers on a hot summer night. Here's what our street was up to all weekend...and I have to say I was quite impressed there were some pretty big ones.

Tyson's DNA Revealed! | An Unlikely Lovechild
Recently, Daniel and I decided to purchase a DNA test from Wisdom Panel Insights for our dog Tyson. We've been approached numerous times on walks and at the park by folks asking what kind of dog he is, but we were never able to give a definitive answer. I've always thought he looked part American Bulldog and Labrador given the longer nose, affinity for frisbee and the love of water. We even had a good chuckle about the test coming back positive for Chilhuahua - how would we explain that to our friends! Well the joke is on us...now how am I going to explain the Miniature Schnauzer?

Blog Update | Self Portaits
I hope those of you who have been reading my blog haven't minded all of the design changes. I'm a bit schizophrenic when it comes to nailing down a specific design/color scheme and I'm still working out all of the bugs so to speak. I must say that I love how Blogger has made it easier to customize the backgrounds, layout, header images and text with it's "template designer" feature. I remember last year trying to code HTML so that my images would appear bigger and what a pain that was. Kudos to those who do that for a living - I certainly lack the patience for it!
Yesterday I played around with the camera a bit in an attempt to take a few self portraits for my website and blog (this was a lot harder than it looks). It's been forever since I've had a portrait taken and thought it was about time to take one of my own so that people might actually know what I look like. I don't know if that makes a difference or not, but I thought it might be fun. So after several failed attempts at a serious self portrait I just started to get silly (my cat was thrilled). I like the candid playfulness you get from a "photo booth" and being a fairly animated person I think this probably represents me better than a single serious shot - I don't take myself that seriously anyway. What do you think - is it important to know what your photographer looks like? Do you feel more connected to them?
Give me a shout and let me know what you think!

Dialect Design | Environmental Portraits
Last week I had the opportunity to photograph Jahan Nourbakhsh and Toby Witte of Dialect Design in their beautiful loft style studio in Noda. Jahan and Toby's designs are not only architecturally amazing and innovative but extremely functional as well. I love how they incorporate art throughout their designs in unexpected places. While I was there I picked up some cool ideas for my own DIY project that I've been working on. Thanks guys!
You can see more of Toby and Jahan's work by visiting their website or stop by for "Dialect Night" one of their monthly art shows and introduce yourself. The salon features local artists every second Friday of the month. Hanging now is work by local artist Sharon Dowell.
